Any advice for easing lower back pain during pregnancy? My lower back is miserable all the time. Heat helps, but doesn't make it stop hurting. What can I do to alleviate the pain that is not going to be harmful to my baby?

Sit up straight, wear supportive shoes, work out so you can strengthen those back muscles, sleep with a body pillow that supports you on all sides.
I have this pillow and love it, even if it + me takes up half a kind sized bed: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?asin=B0002E7DIQ&colid=7DQE8AI9RE27&coliid=I644MVK2RUJCQ&bckreg=baby

you can try alleviating some pressure by laying on your side with a pillow between your legs.
Or, if you can, try a prenatal massage. I know they can be expensive, but they really help ALOT! About a month ago (so about 28 weeks) i thought i would die from back pain alone- i treated myself to a massage and i STILL feel great. Just make sure that the masseuse is experienced in prenatal. OR- have your partner/spouse massage you will a massage tool or hands! :)
you can also try warm baths (like you said)- or if it is truly awful- Tylenol on occasion will help.
hang in there, it will get better!

I know what your feeling, and it hurts so bad you want to cry all the time. Take warm baths, I had to take at least 4 a day sometimes more. If you can find them SOMA muscle relaxers, there not proven to hurt the baby but a lot of people would say not to take them, I did ALL the time with my third child and he's just fine, and he's right where he should be. I would avoid drugs and muscle relaxers. Whatever you do, never use any kind of vibrating massager this would be harmful to the fetus. Hot baths and prenatal massage from a reputable spa.

Make sure to take a look at your mattress and the positioning of your back while sleeping. Adding or taking away pillows may help how your back feels for the rest of the day.
