excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight loss and fatigue, visual changes, mood changes are amoung the symptoms of diabetes. low back pain may or may not be a sign of kidney diesease, but it is unlikely that this would occur in someone who hasn't even been diagnosed with diabetes.
this usually comes, if at all, after many years of diabetes and less then optimum control. you may have a urinary tract infection or a pulled muscle.

you don't say how bad it is or how long it's going on so maybe a trip to the doctor is in order. they do sell over the counter tests that will diagnose a urinary tract infection. the company is called azo. better to let a doctor decide.

Back pain is not a common sign of diabetes.

the VERY FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT sign of diabetes is HIGH BLOOD SUGAR. It is VERY important that you visit your doctor once a year, and ASK FOR a test called the A1C test. This test takes an AVERAGE of all your blood sugars over the last 90 days. If this number begins to rise, then you may be on the way to diabetes.

But diabetes acts very slowly. So, if you have the A1C test once a year, you will find out about diabetes LONG before it does any damage (and long before it shows any symptoms), and you can make the life style changes to stop it.

If the OTHER symptoms of diabetes appear (tiredness, eyesight problems, thirst, excess urination, and so on), the YOU ALREADY HAVE DIABETES, and you need to immediate medical care

DO NOT WAIT FOR SYMPTOMS!!! Go to your doctor and ASK FOR the A1C test. Do this once a year, for the rest of your life.
