Should i get Braces or Dentures?I've already had braces, but my malocclusion is back and it's 5 times worst before
(5cms). I'm a 40yrs old female. My front teeth flares out about 5 to 7 cms from the bottom, I have a big lisp and a big open bite. I was not discipline with my retainers so now they don't fit anymore. I'm always in pain, my cheeks hurts, my upper lips hurts, my TMJ hurts and cracks everytime I open my mouth, basically most of my muscles in my upper face hurts or are sore from the strain of my severe open bite. If I were to get my 4 top teeth removed will that help my problem, or relieve this pain. Would dentures work for me and would it make me look old(like the development of premature deep labial folds), I'm trying to retain my youth and beauty, at the same time I would like to correct my profile. The reason why I mention dentures was because I can't afford braces at all. How can I get the dental or healthcare insurance to cover the full price for braces ($ 5,000)that is medically necessary and NOT cosmetic? Is there a certain cpt or icd-9 code to use or should I write a letter to my insurance company?

Here is some advice you can take to the bank. Avoid dentures unless it is the only option, especially if you want to keep your youth and beauty.

If you want to preserve your youthful appearance, then you need to avoid the denture route.
It is rare for any dental insurance to pay full orthodontic costs. Braces are not classified as a cosmetic procedure anyway. Braces, whether medically necessary or not, is very difficult to get medical reimbursement for. Medical insurance companies will automatically defer any dental procedure to dental insurance whether the treatment was medical in nature or not.
Some of your TMJ work may be covered by medical insurance because TMJ is considered a medical condition (but treated by a dentist). It will definitely be covered by major medical insurance after a deductible.
TMJ treatment can be submitted under CPT 729.1 (stomatognathic rhabdomyositis).

Welll Grandpa Walleye is right on =P beside most dentist will not remove healthy teeth. That being said it does not help you with the cost of having braces I have listed some ways to help you control your dental cost and listed a link in the source that give you the detail information you may be able to use.
Instead of ruling out braces to fix your teeth why not look for ways of having braces cost less so that you can afford them.
