Back Pain Info:Bad Upper Back Pain while Pregnant with twins - 34 weeks, ideas?

Bad Upper Back Pain while Pregnant with twins - 34 weeks, ideas?Attempting to sleep and and next thing I know it feels like my upper back, the area between and behind my shoulder blades and spine area, just start to throb pretty painfully. I was laying on my side so I sat up and just try to gently stretch it out and it didn't go away. I ended up sitting on the side of the bed just sitting holding a pillow waiting for it to go away knowing that nothing I did really helped. Finally it eased up enough that it was just somewhat sore that I laid back down, then next thing I know a few minutes later it happened again. I was laying on my other side this time. (To top things off I have a moderately irritating cold at the moment; going between a stuffed to runny nose and a sore throat. Not sure if that would make a difference to the result of the answer.)

Seeing as it is 2:00 in the morning and nothing I do helps me sleep I figured I'd see if anyone has any ideas as to what the back pain was. Not sure it was the babies because the pain went away when I didn't feel them move. I attempted to look it up online but I'm tired and having a hard time searching the internet correctly. Thanks!

congrats on being almost done!

When I was carrying twins I remember how uncomfortable I got about 34 weeks!

If I had to guess I would say you needed some support to help your back out while you rest. I shoved pillows between my knees and around my growing belly to help support the extra weight. It made me much for cozy!

That's a lot of extra work you're back isn't used to, you could try a warm shower, they're soothing, and maybe look into a prenatal massage? (34 weeks with twins is a feat that deserves reward after all.)

hope this helps

i dont know if this is ur first pregnancy or not, but if it is, here it goes.

babies tend to lay on a couple of nerves, especially this far into your pregnancy. they start running out of room and so they hit a few spots on u that are realllllyyy uncomfortable. and with 2 babies in there at the same time, that sounds like thats the problem.

it really sucks i know. i had a single pregnancy and my daughter was sitting on a nerve that was killing me in my butt for the last 2 months. it was so hard to sleep. i would even find myself waking up on my back sometimes because i guess while i was asleep that was the only comfortable position my body could get into.

dont worry. ur gunna have ur babies very soon and all this pain will go away. its literally like night and day. yes u will have a bunch of new pains from giving birth, but all of these pregnancy pains kinda fade into thin air. the only thing u can do is try a million different positions. maybe try sleeping upright in a rocking chair?

i hope some of this helps and eases ur worry.

34 weeks with Twin pregnancy, unable to lie down even on the side to catch up some sleep. Shoulder tipping pain indicates that your diaphragm is compressed by the abdominal and gravid uterus. Since you are unable to lie down and cannot catch any sleep, even at this wee hours of the morning, the best thing you can do now is to rush to the nearest hospital. Meanwhile, just pray to the Almighty. God will definitely, will listen to your prayers.
