Chest pain, back pain and difficulty breathing in the middle of the night? My Husband wakes up at least one night out of the month With extreme stiffness and pain in his chest and back. The stiffness and pain are so severe he has a difficult time breathing. There is no coughing associated with this, no phlem or mucus. He is 25 years of age, average build, open-air construction worker, and he is a smoker. he has had a llengthyhistory of back issues, such as sciatica and what is suspected to be unitary sacrelitis. When his has an attack I usually have him raise his arms above his head and take slow deep breaths (very painful for him) it seems as if the back muscles on either side of his spine are bulging. If anyone could help me with what this is or what I can do about it I would appreciate it!

i would go to a doctor immediately for a chest x ray and also to check the heart. There might be something going on i think you get chest pain with a heart attack. But i would go to the doctor IMMEDIATELY!!!

I have heard that when you are having a heart attack it can feel like you have pain in your chest and your back also, It can actually throw people off a little bit, but I've heard it's one of the number one signs, the back pain that is.
