7 weeks pregnant with severe mid back pain and constipation?

7 weeks pregnant with severe mid back pain and constipation?I am 7 weeks pregnant and suffer from severe mid back pain and constipation. I can not sleep at night because of the tossing and turning trying to get comfy. I put a pillow between my legs and it doesn't help for too long.

I also noticed that I have not really moved my bowels properly in a while.

Should I be concerned or is this normal at such an early stage? I do not have any discharge or bleeding.

Also, is it safe to take ex-lax or such?

Thank you for your help!!!

I am 12 weeks pregnant and I have the constipation problem. My doctor told me today that I can take Dulcolax and Colace. I am not sure about the back pain, you might want to talk to your doctor.

It's very normal to have constipation in early pregnancy! Give your OBGYN a call to see what you can take without harming your little one :)

No, you cannot take Ex-lax. You can take stool softeners, but not laxatives. I am also 7 weeks and haven't had the constipation or back pain yet, but I'm sure it's normal at any stage. Everyone's different. Maybe I'm too busy throwing up to notice other symptoms...lol.

Constipation is common in pregnancy, and you can take OTC to help with that, also eat better foods in smaller portions more often. Take fiber supplements if you aren't getting enough fiber in food. Back pain isn't common this early in pregnancy though. It is when your belly is huge. You should be sleeping really good right now, so this is something that you should talk over with your doctor.
