Do I have symptoms of ovarian cancer?

Do I have symptoms of ovarian cancer?Hi I am 19 years old and Im worrying that I might have ovarian cancer. My symptoms include lower back pain, and front pelvic pain. The pain isnt horrible and it comes and goes. I have started excersing but that was a few days ago were I started to focus on my inner thighs. I have had no other health problems and I did have my yearly exam a couple of months ago and everything cam back normal. She also checked my ovaries and said they felt fine but I also know that is not a proper way of checking. Should I be worried?

No, I was in the same position as you.

I found out that I had enlarged ovaries, and I thought I had cancer. I was crying and everything.

Turns out I was fine, but get an ultrasound (pelvic and transvaginal), HPV test, and a PAP swear.

Then you'll find out. =)

Courtney, I'm glad you got a decent answer, unlike the first one and I want to insert a comment directed at whatever it is calling itself "operatio" -find a less serious category for your, as usual, cutesy, flip answers. Every answer in your history on Y/A is just like this one. The cancer category is no place for you and I hope you get reported for an insulting answer.

If you consistently experience several of the following problems, make an appointment with your doctor to be on the safe side.

-Digestive pain (gas, nausea, or indigestion).
-Pain in the abdominal and pelvic area.
-Unexplained changes in your bowel movements.
-Unexplained weight loss or weight gain.
-Frequent urination.
-Fatigue.
-Pain during intercourse.
-A full feeling even after eating a light meal.

I would high recommend making an appointment with your doctor, just to be safe. From what you have described, it's unlikely you have cancer, but it would be a good idea to get yourself checked, for piece of mind.

At your exam, you'll probably have an ultrasound. But first, the doctor will examine your ovaries for lumps, and unusual swelling of the ovaries. Or, you could have a blood test called a CA 125, but that is unlikely as many doctors recommend against it as a simple screening test. The doctor could also use another test which shows the internal organs. After one or more of these exams, if the doctor has any doubts in his mind, he will prefer a minor surgical procedure used to determine the presence of cancer.

Good luck.

Those are some of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. However they can be symptoms of other things as well. Such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. The only way to check for ovarian cancer is to have a biopsy taken of one of the ovaries.
Please see a gynecologist. Best wishes
