Hemorrhoids, Lower Back Pain, Colon Cancer, Pregnancy?I have had hemorrhoids for about 6-7 months are are TERRIBLE! Everytime I use the bathroom I come out in tears! I went to the doctor a few times and all they say is "use the over the counter products" I have used every product possible. I have recently gotten lower back pain also. My g-ma went to the hospital a few months ago JUST for severe backpain and found out it was colon cancer! My mom also was diagnosed a few months ago with PRE cancerous colon cancer polyps. I FINALLY was able to make an appointment with a Gasterointerologist and then found out I was pregnant! I am now about 9 weeks pregnant and the hemorrhoids are getting worse. The Gasterointerologist won't see me until after the baby is born. My OB says "use over the counter products to treat them" and meanwhile I am scared to death because I'm watching my g-ma go through chemo! Any advice? Or ideas on what helps? They are so bad there is also blood in my stool on occassion!

Sweetheart-how old are you?
You probably don't have to worry about the big C just yet, but it sounds like you should keep an eye on it since it seems to run in the family. About the 'hemis'-they suck. There's no way to put it nicely and there's really not a whole lot you can do right now except stay off your feet and don't spend a lot of time on the toilet. I would say also-don't get pregnant, but it's a little late for that right now. Tell the OB you want some prescription cream for them (yes they do make it and it's at least twice as strong as the other stuff). Use it faithfully and it will help shrink them.
The blood in the stool is normal as long as it is bright (not dark) red. Bright means it's fresh and not bleeding somewhere in your intestinal tract. Hang in there-you'll be OK. And don't worry about the cancer thing-just keep getting tested.
