Chest pain after car accident?I was in a car accident about 6 weeks ago. I had a lady pull out in front of me and I t-boned her. I was going about 35 mph, but I was able to brake a little bit before impact. The seat belt locked on my chest very hard like it is supposed to, which caused a seat belt burn and bruising on my chest. I was taken to the hospital (they thought I had a collapsed lung) and had x-rays. They said everything looked ok, and I would just be sore. It is now about 6 weeks later and my chest is still very sore- I can't hiccup, sneeze or anything without pain, and they also think I now have a disc problem in my lower back. I'm going to be going back to the doctor, but how long does it take until the chest injuries from car accidents heal?

Depends on what your injuries are. Back problems can go on for the rest of your life. The chest pain could be a fractured or cracked rib.

You might have a compression fracture of a vertebrae which could also increase the likely hood of a disc herniating. This might not have shown up on the x-ray right away. Another possibility is a fractured rib, but that shouldn't still be hurting 6 weeks later.

Anything in your back area can last a long time I fell like 3 times (all a couple months apart) on my tail bone when I was 10 and I still can't sit on the hard floor. Your chest will hurt for a while but probably not as long as your back. It really all depends in how serious the injury is.
