Horrible back pain 10 weeks after delivery?

Horrible back pain 10 weeks after delivery?I am so frustrated with my OB right now. I left her office in tears today, which was very embarrassing.
I have been having horrible, almost constant lower back pain since having my baby 10 weeks ago. Picking him up is excruciating, on the scale of some of the labor pains that I felt, and I know my husband is tired of hearing about it. I am not a "whiny" type of person. I am in constant pain and even I am tired of hearing myself complain about it.
When I went to my OB for the 3rd time since the birth and asked what could be causing the back pain she said that some women experience back pain for 6-12 months and then smiled and said goodbye and left the room. The first 2 times I saw her for back pain after delivery, she said that she wanted to look at my back. I thought that meant through x-ray, however, she lifted up the back of my shirt, glanced at my back, and then told me that everything looked okay and that back pain after birth can last up to 6 weeks. First 6 weeks and now 6-12 months? I don't know if I can stand it.
My question to you moms- First, have you experienced this long term back pain after having a baby? Second, did you find a way to alleviate the pain?
I am determined to be the best mother I can be and I refuse to believe that I have to suffer through 6-12 months of agonizing pain when picking up my son.
I will appreciate any advice/similar stories that any of you have.

Go see a regular doctor, not an OB/GYN. Try a chiropractor - it did wonders for my back and mine wasn't completely from child birth. Your OB/GYN doesn't know what to do with a back...they don't work with that part of the body. Go to someone that won't just right it off to childbirth and say "sorry" - what a load of crap. See a different doctor. Hope you feel better soon. It's hard enough being a new mommy!

Go and see a physiotherapist not a chiropractor, it is more likely to be muscular not a chiropractic issue. The ligaments and muscles get pulled out when pregnant, this needs to be treated properly. A chiropractor won't deal with the other issues a physio will treat the whole issue not just the symptoms.

With my second baby; afterwards my back hurt something awful. My doctor thought I was just being overly sensitive and blamed it on the epidural and said i'd feel better once i got home and got back into my yoga..the jerk!. My husband was very upset with how I was treated due to a woman's pain should be taken seriously. My husband found a really great chiropractor for me to see when we left the hospital. The epidural it rotated a part of my spine and my hips were uneven. After getting adjusted my pain went away. I was shocked to see other moms in the chiropractor office with babies who had sore backs and hip pain after birth. Maybe a chiropractor could help you too. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Unfortunatley, some of the side effects of epiderals is back pain for a long time after labor. If something was wrong with your pack, then she would be able to see it by looking at it....assuming you're not obese. lol Don't worry, but if its bad like you say, go see another doctor and get pain relievers that won't harm your baby if you're breast feeding. Sorry about your OB. Mine does the same shinanagins to me.
