Would Lidocaine show on a drug test?Hello!
I suffer from a disc herniation that is extremely painful. I do not have health insurance.
A close family member of mine has awful back problems as well-- and does have health insurance-- and has multiple treatments for pain at home.
I avoid the narcotics because I understand that there is a stigma placed on them-- and tolerance builds fairly quickly-
But he offered me celebrex to treat my horendous inflamation-- and lidocaine patches to maybe numb the pain on site.
Would these medications show on a test? Would they work?
Please no judgment
no it wont what?

No, for several reasons: 1) Drug screens are for cocaine, which is different from lidocaine; 2) the concentration of lidocaine entering the circulation from a patch would be extremely low and is localized; 3) most drug screens are in urine which means even less specificity but if by some chance a urine test was positive for cocaine (even though you took lidocaine) it would automatically trigger a protocol for a second more specific test (called GC/MS) which would absolutely differentiate between cocaine and lidocaine. You would still be stuck with having to explain why and how you have lidocaine. Finally, if you are getting a drug screen they usually ask you if you are taking any Rx drugs. If the lidocaine really helps, you should talk with your physician and get a prescription.
