How can you tell the difference between normal back pain during pregnancy and back labor?I am 33 weeks and 4 days and my bach aches like crazy today. I have had a lot of pressure down there and some cramping, and lots of BH. Nothing regular though. They seem rather sporadic. I have not lost my mucus plug yet. I just want some advice if this is normal or I should call the doc. Thanks.....

Call your doctor...any back pain like this should be addressed...you might be in labor!

I had such extreme back pain during pregnancy that I was only getting an average of 3 hours of sleep at night. I was exhausted! I bought a Comfort U pillow and it made all the difference! When you are in labor it is more of a tightening of the stomach muscles and not really cramping or pain as much. It is uncomfortable and the back pain might also accompany it, but I think you will be able to tell the difference when/if it happens.

You do sound early. But the difference between an ache and labor...you will be in immense pain, enough to make you breathe heavy.
As for the braxton hicks, those are good. What they do is move the baby in to labor position, they also help build up the muscles for contractions and delivery.
Unless you begin to spot or bleed you are ok, do your kick counting to ease your mind. then if anything changes call your doctor.

It is very early to go into labor, though the baby if born now would have a high survival rate it is in the babies best interest that s/he stays put awhile longer.
I would call the advice nurse just to be on the safe side, they will better be able to advise you...because you could have preterm labor (before 37 weeks)...It is hard to say, so call your doc!
